MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE

Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is practised to improve the symptoms of many chronic conditions:

  • Primary lymphoedema
  • Lymphoedema which can occur after cancer treatment
  • Sinusitis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Acne and many other skin conditions

MLD can be used to speed up the healing process after many types of surgery including cosmetic surgery.

It may relieve fluid congestion in swollen legs, eyes and ankles which can occur in pregnancy.

Jan Stuart

Jan has been a Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage therapist for over sixteen years working with people in both clinical and aesthetic situations. This is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful effect on the body. She treats a variety of clients using Deep Oscillation, which she finds invaluable when clients present with fluid retention,

especially in the face and legs.

MLD post surgery enhances healing, particularly following Vaser and liposuction, Deep Oscillation is beneficial for swelling and pain. It has also been shown to enhance the outcome of liposuction before having the procedure.

Jan is also an experienced Bowen therapist and an Advanced Emmett Practitioner. Bowen is a holistic remedial body technique that works on the soft connective tissue (fascia) of the body, that treats musculoskeletal or related neurological problems, including acute sports injuries and chronic or organic conditions.

The Emmett Technique is a muscle release therapy which is used to address issues of pain and dysfunction. It uses a combination of gentle switches and direct pressure to unlock muscle memory, release specific muscle groups, and allow the body to return to a state of balance. Jan combines these therapies with lymphatic drainage after assessing the client, and they leave a session feeling relaxed and lighter.
